Nobody needs another site telling you your old car is a problem. Regulators, dealers and ad agencies already do that full time. This one exists for the opposite reason.

Greasy hands working on an engine cylinder head in a home garage

Half my life has gone into tools, drain pans and engines other people had written off. I started Not Enough Cylinders because I’m tired of being told that a car with a few decades and a few hundred thousand miles on it belongs in the crusher. Keeping one running is not a crime. Most of the time it’s the smartest thing you can do with it.

For me, wrenching is freedom. I don’t want a car that decides how I drive, or one that goes dead in a parking lot because its software had a bad day. I want metal I understand, that I can fix in my own garage, and that gives something back when I step on the gas.

You won’t find lifestyle content or brochure copy here. You’ll find what it actually takes to keep a machine alive for thirty years. If you’d rather have grease under your nails than a monthly subscription to unlock features your car already has, or pay twice for somebody else’s idea of green, pull up a stool.

Welcome to the garage.

Check you’re still alive.
